Herbal Therapy

Herbal Therapy, also known as Herbalism and Botanical Medicine, is the practice of using herbs for their therapeutic or medicinal value. Herbs are amazingly healing plants that possess a variety of substances that act with, within and upon the body.

Once, not long ago, all medicines were herbs. Most commercial pharmaceutical preparations today were initially derived from plants. Because plants aren't patentable, synthetic derivatives or isolates make up the bulk of modern medicines. These cause as much or more dis-ease as they treat, and 'treatment' typically means simply blocking symptoms - our body's signal that something is out of balance.

Plants, in their whole form, work much differently than synthetic medicines. Often, one simple herb can help bring balance to an organ that is in an overactive or underactive state. Standardized herbs are not like working with the whole plant, but much more like pharmaceuticals. Companies often standardize various components of plants in order to create something patentable.

Fortunately, plants are NOT patentable and we can work with them ourselves to bring our bodies back to health. Suzy can help design a program that will work for you and your unique composition.

You can also take a class and learn more about how to identify, grow and make remedies from healing botanicals yourself. Check your area to see if there are classes near you, or search online for home study courses. There are a lot of great teachers out there with a lot of wisdom to share!

Check the classes schedule to see if Suzy has any upcoming herbal courses, or contact her to request a class or herb walk.
